A conjoint Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Science allows you to graduate with a conjoint BBus/BSc at the end of four years of study.
You will gain analytical and communication skills and knowledge of business skills such as finance, accounting, economics, marketing and management. You will also have a broad knowledge of science disciplines.
More and more New Zealand employers are seeking graduates with an understanding of business alongside the knowledge and skills of either an arts or science degree.
Both the BSc and BBus give you the opportunity to choose areas you are interested in, but to spend the first year exploring areas of interest before you decide on an area to focus on. The first step is to make sure that you enrol in both business and science courses in your first year - you can then apply at the end of your first year to study towards the conjoint degree. Students with good results from Secondary School may be admitted directly in their first year to study towards the conjoint degree.

A 2017 Ministry of Education publication The post-study earnings and destinations of young domestic graduates showed that those who complete a qualification in a science, agriculture, technology, computer science, engineering or mathematics field of study have high relative earnings after they complete their study compared to the national median. Earnings can be substantially more than other graduates.

Studying both business and science was a natural choice for me. I was raised in a business-oriented family, and was always intrigued by how things worked like why the mixing of two chemicals leads to crystallization. My desire to make new materials and understand the characteristics they possess led to studying chemistry and with the rapid increase of globalisation I saw significant relevance in international business.
After taking the Global Environmental Issues course in my final year of study, I became determined to help solve the world’s energy crisis! Having majored in chemistry, I was drawn to solar energy, but with little knowledge of renewable energy I decided to return to study. I was accepted into the Masters of Sustainable Energy Engineering at the University of Nottingham, and I’m currently working on a project to build and test various solar cells based on nano-crystal semiconductors.
My whole experience at Massey was amazing. The student advisors were outstanding, and the staff and lecturers were very approachable and happy to make time for students.
After I finished my conjoint degree I worked as a summer intern at AgResearch Ltd in Lincoln, Canterbury. The lab experience I gained throughout my degree enabled me to be trained quickly and get onto doing innovative research. This summer internship led to a full-time contract and multiple publications in peer-reviewed articles.
