You need to register with the Accommodation Gateway before you can apply for accommodation. You can register at any time, but applications for accommodation open each year on:

Applications received after these dates will only receive an offer of place if rooms are still available.
Make sure you apply for accommodation as soon as the application period opens. If you need to complete your reference or provide more information, you'll have enough time to do so.
Complete the Accommodation Gateway registration form so you can apply for accommodation. When completing the form, make sure the email address you enter is your personal email. This will be your login username and the address we will use to communicate with you.
Now that you're registered, you can log in and apply for your accommodation. In the Gateway you will need to select the campus you will be studying at from the top menu and work through the 10-stage process.
Rooms are allocated by the Student Accommodation Team. You have the opportunity to rank your options at the Hall preference stage.

If you're a New Zealand Resident and you want to apply for accommodation, you will need to provide a reference. School leavers will need to ask their school to complete a Common Confidential Reference Form (CCRF). If you're a mature student (non-school leaver) you will need to ask a previous landlord or employer to complete the Accommodation Character Reference for Non-School Leavers form below. Your employer or landlord will need to email the completed form to the relevant accommodation team.
Please note: International and returning residents do not need to provide a character reference with their application for accommodation.
Once your application has been processed, and if successful, you will receive an email with your Offer of Place. It's important you follow the steps outlined in the email by the date stated to secure your place.
Before you accept your Offer, make sure you:
You're signing a legally binding fixed-term contract when you accept your Offer of Place.
Offers of Place for full-year and semester one accommodation are issued from 2 October and from 1 May for semester two.
To secure your accommodation you must complete the Residential Agreement in the Gateway and pay the deposit by the deadline date.
Before you move in you will also need to pay the initial fees of your chosen payment plan.
