Purpose
The Marcus Kitt / Colliers International Bursary encourages excellence in real estate studies. It supports students contemplating a career in commercial real estate, specialising in professional or transactional services.

Background
This bursary commemorates Marcus Kitt, a long-serving member of Colliers staff and a former student of Massey University.
It was established in 2014 and is financed by Colliers International New Zealand Limited.

Value and tenure
The value of the bursary is $5000. It is offered annually and the tenure is for a single academic year. The money is paid in two instalments, one in the first semester and one in the second semester.

Vacation or part-time work at Colliers International may be available to bursary recipients.

Typical number on offer
One bursary is offered each year.

Eligibility
Applicants must be:
enrolled full time in the Bachelor of Business (Property) degree at the Auckland campus.
New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.

Applications will be considered from students in the second year of study.

Selection criteria
The basis of selection is academic merit as determined by academic results in Year 1 and Year 2 studies, communication and interpersonal skills, and potential to succeed in the property profession.

Selection panel
The bursary is awarded by the Chair of the University Scholarships Committee (or their delegate), a representative of Colliers International, a representative of the academic staff, and a representative of the Kitt family.

Short-listed candidates will be invited to attend an interview.

Conditions of the bursary
The University Scholarships Committee, in consultation with Colliers International New Zealand Limited, has the power to terminate or suspend a bursary if it receives an unsatisfactory report on the progress of a recipient from the head of the academic unit in which the recipient is enrolled.
